Portfolio Scrapbook pages

You should have these pages done.
• 1-Collage
• 2-Patterns, Texture, Snow & Ice
• 2-Rule of Thirds
• 1-Damaged Photo

Outdoor Single Reflector

These need to be taken when it is sunny outside.
You need a reflector and a studio camera.
Pay attention to your background when you take these.
The Sun should be at a 45 degree angle from your subject(key light), and your reflector should be at a 45 degree angle from the other side(fill light).

Take 12 and turn in your best two.

Group of Four Studio

You need to have at least four people in the studio to take 12 pictures. 6 with everyone standing and 6 with at least two people sitting.
• Watch for shadows on faces
• Make sure that your background is behind all of your subjects.

Turn in your best one of each on one sheet.

Due on Tuesday May 22nd.

Color Rendering

You need to take one of your photos, desaturate it, and then recolor it in Photoshop using new layers in color mode.

Turn in your original desaturated image and the final recolored on one page.

Tri Light

Take 12 photos using the Tri Light Reflector in the front of the room.
• Headshots
• Take in portrait orientation.

From these 12 turn in your 2 best on one page.

Due Friday May 11th.

Get your first studio assignment done by this friday.
Print out your best one from each pose on one sheet and turn them in.

Hours 3 & 4 Looking for black camera case

Black & White Conversions Due Wednesday Selective Color Due Friday

Please have your black & white conversions done by Wednesday.
• The original, plus the three you converted on one sheet labeled and printed out.

Selective color will be due on Friday May 4th.
• Turn in all six of the selective colors on one sheet, no originals needed.

Partial Shots Due TODAY!!!

As soon as you get to class get your partial shots into the drop box.

Go->Connect to server->address=10.13.224.32->click on guest then connect, choose dropbox in the window and place your best photo in the proper hour.

We will do the show at the end of the hour.

Tomorrow we will be starting the color rendering assignment.

Don't forget about doing your scrapbook pages.

Partial Shots Due Monday

Selective Color

Selective color is a B & W photo that has some area colored.

You can do this by...
• taking a color image
• adding a hue saturation adjustment layer
• turn the saturation all the way down
• then color on the adjustment layer mask with black to reveal the color, and white to hide the color.

• You need to do three different selective color images.
• You need to do two different variations of each one.

Converting to Black & White

This tutorial can be found either online in the Photoshop links list, or you can use the printed out version found in the three ring binder by the computers.

Once you are done you should have three final black & white photos. Place all three of them and the original color image on one 8 x 10 sheet of paper. Make sure that all of the images are properly labeled and spelled correctly, your name is on it, and print them to the color laser.

Monday-Return Tests, Finish Damaged Photo

Pass back tests and go over.

To be completely done with your damaged photo, you must do the following items.
• Cut off the existing border if your photo has one.
• Replace it with a new border, even if your old one didn't have one.
• If you pic is B & W, desaturate it.
• If it is supposed to be sepia toned, then redo that.
• Put the before and after on one sheet labeled, then print to the color laser & turn in.
• Scrapbook one page with the before and after on it.

STUDIO TEST FRIDAY

Studio test will be at the beginning or the hour on friday.

It will be on all of the notes from Tuesday.

Studio Assignment

12 Pictures of each:
Head
Head and arms
3/4 body
Full body

You will be turning in your best one from each category.

Remember to set up the studio correctly.

Camera Settings

Controlling Light

Aperture (2, 2.8, 4.0, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 22, 32)
Measured in ƒ-stops.
Moving from smaller number to larger number cuts the amount of light in half.
Moving from larger number to smaller number doubles the amount of light.

Shutter speeds (1, 2, 4, 8, 15, 30, 60, 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000)
Measured in seconds.
Moving from smaller number to larger number cuts the amount of light in half.
Moving from larger number to smaller number doubles the amount of light.

ISO (100, 200, 400, 800, 1600)
Same as film speed.

Then we will be watching 20 minutes of a video on photo restoration.

Then you will have the rest of the hour to work on your damaged photo or continue working on your scrapbook pages.

Change in Scrapbooking Assignment

For every photo composition assignment...

• Take 12 photos
• Choose your best 4 to turn in
• Choose your best 1 and transfer it to Zimpel's computer
• Scrapbook your best 4 that you turned in.
• 2 photos per scrapbook page

• 2 photos
• 2 text blocks
• 2 embellishments

Monday-Best Photo Presentation

Quiz!!!

After the quiz, make sure that your photo is loaded into my drop box.

Go->Connect to Server->type hsstaff, connect, type in your username and password from the media center server, choose drop boxes, scroll to the bottom, open my drop box, and place your image in the proper folder of the proper hour. Remember to name it with your last name.

The Collage will be due on Wednesday.

The Rule of Thirds will be due on Friday.

Printing your collage






Anytime you print from Adobe Photoshop you need to choose "Print with preview" from the file menu, or option+apple+p.

Here you need to make sure that your collage is printing in the right orientation, portrait or landscape.

If it is not, you'll need to click on page setup and choose the proper orientation.

Press print.

In this window, you need to make sure that you choose the i950 printer, you'll need to make sure that you are selected on the correct number(1-4) for the printer just like scanning.

After choosing the i950, choose copies and pages, then quality and media.

Now click on plain paper and go to glossy photo paper.

Now select Printing a top quality photo.

Press print, FINALLY!!!

Monday-Negative Scan & Collage

I will show you how to do the negative scan today.

Things to remember...
• Change the type of document to film.
• Make sure that you remove the white background in the cover of the scanner.
• Place the negative tray so the white triangle is in the back right side of the scanner.
• Preview the negatives, check only the one you wish to scan.
• Click on the thumbnail so it highlights blue.
• Change the target size from original to 4x6.

I will then demo the collage today.

Adobe Photoshop
New document
• Size=8x10
• Resolution=300
• background = white or transparent
• RGB color

Drag and drop all images from your saved scans to your new document.

Make sure you have your 6 pics and 1 negative for scanning.

Monday-Class Intro

We will be going over the rules sheet, and then you and your parent/guardian will have to sign it and get it back to me by Friday for 10 points.

We will be going over what we will be doing throughout the trimester.

You need to bring in:
• at least 6 pictures for your collage, one of which needs to be a photograph.
• a 35mm negative to scan.
• an old damaged photo.
